In cooperation with Becker Antriebe GmbH, a new generation of radio transmitter, the CentronicPlus, was developed. An integrated illuminated ring in combination with bidirectional radio enables optical status messages of the networked receivers and guarantees a new form of perception for the customer away from pure haptics.

Radio controls have become an indispensable part of today's everyday life, be it for roller shutters, venetian blinds, awnings, garage doors, etc. Our long-standing customer, the company Becker Antriebe, has been successful in this field for many years and now wanted to launch a new generation of handheld transmitter for their drives. The aim of this development was to increase the ergonomics of the hand-held transmitters by means of an attractive yet discreet product design and, at the same time, to achieve new standards in perception by means of an illuminated ring.

In close cooperation with the electronics development department of Becker Antriebe GmbH, the product design and the technical housing concept of the new handheld transmitters were developed with the help of design and functional samples. The design samples served to verify the product design and to check the ergonomics. The functional samples helped with the central technical challenge, the integration of the illuminated ring. The aim was to achieve the smoothest possible light distribution without hotspots, ideally with clearly defined individual segments. Very short distances and a light guide with deflections made these requirements for a light segment that was diffuse on the one hand and as clear as possible at the same time more difficult. In addition, few LEDs were to be used in order to avoid unnecessarily increasing the manufacturing costs. The arrangement of the illuminated ring directly around the actual keypad required a filigree connection technology and at the same time flexible mounting of the components in order to continue to guarantee the effect of the haptic feedback of the keys.

We are pleased that another product we were involved in has successfully found its way onto the market.
